"It is the responsibility of each Rotarian to prepare the New Generations - all young people up to the age of 30 - by improving their life skills to ensure a better future, while recognising the diversity of their needs. All clubs and districts are encouraged to undertake projects that support the fundamental needs of the New Generations: health, human values, education and self development." (Manual of Procedure, 2004 ed. p 89)

Rotary Clubs are incorporated entities under NSW law and must comply with Child Protection legislation as it applies to volunteers working with young people under the age of 18 years.

The Hunters Hill Club Youth programs fall into 3 categories:

1. Those organised and administered by District Committees and supported by Clubs. They are:

  • Rotary Youth Exchange
  • Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
  • Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)
  • National Youth Science Forum, Siemens Science Experience, Engineering Schools
  • Interact
  • Rotaract
  • Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA)
  • Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA)

2. Programs organised and administered by other organisations and supported by Clubs.

  • Operation Hope (Wesley Mission Camps for disadvantaged children)
  • Youth Off The Streets (YOTS)

3. Programs initiated by Clubs to meet the needs of young people in their local communities. These include:

  • Scholarships, bursaries and awards for school students
  • Inter-school debating competitions
  • "My Mother - My Hero" Mothers' Day Essay/Poem for Primary School students
  • Homeless youth programs
  • Community Centres for Youth
  • Youth Forums, ARHRF High School Forums on Mental Health (Years 10 & 11)
  • Youth Art Shows, Drama Festivals and Showcases of Musical Talents
  • Leadership training for High School Student Representative Council members
  • Support for students with disabilities - wheelchairs, computers, social outings
